Every year, 227,000 MILES of wrapping paper is thrown away during the Holiday Season. Traditional wrapping paper isn't recyclable as it is often dyed, laminated and/or contains non-paper additives such as gold, silver, glitter, plastics, etc. These such mixed materials cannot be recycled. Below are some ideas that are not only inexpensive, but also are much kinder to our Mother Earth.

Also, something to note, traditional tape is made from plastic and comes in non-recyclable plastic dispensers. Swapping to kraft paper tape, masking or recyclable washi tape is SO easy as these items are often readily available at big box stores or craft stores.

If you DO already have traditional wrapping paper, you can donate it so it goes to good use before going to a landfill. After all, using up the stuff we already have is the most important thing about living a more sustainable lifestyle. Toys-For-Tots is an excellent organization to donate unused wrapping paper, boys, tape, etc.
